What we store, and what we don't

You are often telling us something sensitive about a parent at a hard moment. The design assumption is that we should hold as little of it as possible.

Your Care Check answers

Your answers, your plan and your ticked checklist items are saved in your own web browser, on your own device. They are not sent to us to generate your plan — the rules run in the browser.

That has two consequences worth knowing. If you clear your browser data, or use a different device, your answers are gone. And if you share a device with someone else, they may be able to see the plan, so use the “start again from scratch” option on the plan page if that matters.

No account required

You do not need to create an account, give an email address or give a name to use the check, read any guide or get a plan. We do not ask for a PPS number, and you should never give one to a site like ours.

Health information

Some questions touch on health and caring responsibilities. We ask only what changes the plan, include an “I'm not sure” option where it matters, and keep optional questions clearly marked. Skipping an optional question makes your plan broader, not broken.

Measurement

We record anonymous, aggregate usage events — for example that a check was completed, or that a source link was clicked — so we can see which pages actually help. These events carry no name, no email and no health detail, and no third-party advertising or tracking service is loaded on this site.

Sharing and email

Secure sharing of a plan with a family member, and email updates, are planned but not switched on. We won't publish your answers at a guessable web address to make sharing look like it works.

Your rights and contact

Because we don't hold your answers, there is generally nothing about you for us to retrieve or delete. If you have contacted us directly, you can ask us what we hold and ask us to delete it — get in touch.
