Everything on this site is general information to help you navigate the system. It is not medical, legal or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for professional advice about a particular person's situation.
Not an assessment or a decision
Nothing here assesses care needs, confirms eligibility, approves funding or allocates hours. Those decisions are made by the HSE, local authorities and the Department of Social Protection through their own processes, and their decision is the one that counts.
Accuracy and change
Schemes, rules, rates and contact details change. We review our content and link to official sources, but we cannot guarantee that everything is current at the moment you read it. Always confirm details with the relevant body before acting on them.
Independence
We are independent of the HSE and of government. We are not paid to rank or recommend public schemes or providers, and we take no nursing home placement fees. See about us and our methodology.
Emergencies and safeguarding
This site is not for emergencies. If someone is at immediate risk, contact emergency services on 999 or 112. If you are worried that an older person is being harmed, neglected or financially abused, raise it with the HSE safeguarding service or An Garda Síochána.
